Objective: to utilize its properties in a new generation of cosmetic products. Thanks to its cutting-edge expertise in the pharmaceutical industry and biotechnology, Tauderma initiated molecular testing and found ideal partners at the PhytoArk site in Conthey to successfully bring Saxiline to market.
Saxifraga rotundifolia, an alpine plant that thrives particularly well in woodlands, possesses exceptional properties for skin care. It has been shown to effectively and lastingly reduce age spots, improve skin firmness, and reduce wrinkles around the eyes. “Thanks to its unique mechanism of action, Saxiline significantly reduces irritation and swelling caused by sunburn,” explains Vincent Mutel, President and Chief Scientific Officer of Tauderma.
Tauderma’s goal is to provide 100% organic natural extracts based on a rigorous scientific approach, made possible by screening PhytoArk’s library of plant extracts. To ensure that the active ingredients in the extracts are preserved, Vincent Mutel emphasizes the importance of “finding the most appropriate extraction method for commercializing the active ingredient.” That is why a pilot freeze-drying extraction process was developed using PhytoArk’s extraction platform. “Today, the extraction and commercial production of Saxiline are carried out on the platform,” notes Tauderma’s executive director. The extract is also marketed worldwide. Building on this success, another extract for treating acne is currently under development.
